Georgeana Fung re-joined Burson-Marsteller in July 2008 as Market Leader and Managing Director for the Hong Kong office. She is currently Chief Executive Officer, Hong Kong. Georgeana was previously with B-M from 1995 to 1997. Georgeana has 18 years of experience in media, consultancies and in-house PR roles. With a specialization in brand building and corporate strategies, Georgeana plays a key role in advising, developing and implementing strategic campaigns for major clients. Her category expertise includes food and safety, retailing & FMCG, tourism and theme parks, OTC healthcare, retail banking and conservation.
Prior to re-joining Burson Marsteller, Georgeana was with Weber Shandwick for 7 years as Executive Vice President for the Greater China consumer marketing practice. For many years, Georgeana assisted clients in facing legislative issues, rumors, public complaints and NGO challenges. Her clients included Coca-Cola, Ocean Park Hong Kong, Citibank, Bank of Communications, MasterCard, Nespresso, Sanofi Aventis, Wyeth Nutritional, Merck, Conservation Foundation, Diary Farm, Wellcome Supermarket, Johnson & Johnson, Dun & Bradstreet and the Guam Visitors Bureau. Georgeana is also a seasoned media trainer and has media trained more than 100 senior executives in the region.
Earlier in her career, she was publisher of Marie Claire Magazine in Hong Kong, overseeing a team of 25 editorial, advertising, design and production staff and with responsibility for profitability, sales and marketing, business development, editorial direction and general management. Before Marie Claire, she headed the Department of Advertising & Public Relations at Chanel Limited, Hong Kong and China, from 1997 to 2000 handling corporate positioning & branding, advertising, above the line promotion and public relations for all Chanel products-from high end jewelry pieces, haute couture, ready-to-wear and accessories to cosmetics, fragrances and skincare products.
Georgeana began her journalistic career with CKER Multicultural Radio in Canada in 1985, where she was responsible for news and programs development. She was also Overseas Correspondent in Canada for British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) for a period of time. She received an Award of Record Sales & Outstanding Achievement in Programming 1989-1995 before she moved back to Hong Kong in 1995 with her family. Georgeana was a lifestyle columnist for Ming Pao Daily in Hong Kong and a business management columnist for a recruitment publication.
A lecturer at the Hong Kong University SPACE since 2005, Georgeana has been teaching post-graduate diploma courses on crisis management & corporate affairs, speech making and PR for retailers. She is also a Board Member and Director for KELY Support Group, a charitable organization that helps young people to build self-confidence, co-operation and harmony. She was also one of the advisors for the Hong Kong Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) on pet care education.
Georgeana was born and raised in Hong Kong and achieved her Bachelor of Arts in Recreation Administration at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada. She is married and has two lovely daughters, Nicole at 15 and Desiree at 9.
